ABOUT I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME

Consisting of lead vocalist and bassist Dallon Weekes and drummer Ryan Seaman, I Dont Know How But They Found Me (shortened to iDKHOW) is a musical duo the formed in 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Weekes was a member of Panic! At the Disco from 2009 to 2017 and also frontman of his pop punk project The Brobecks from 2002 to 2013. Seaman was the drummer for Falling in Reverse from 2011 to 2017. The two performers met and became friends in 2008 when Seaman joined The Brobecks.

The name I Dont Know How But They Found Me is purposely written with incorrect punctuation, with Weekes noting that punctuation was "a big deal" and that for this band name he wanted to go the opposite route. The name was inspired by a quote from the movie Back to the Future and came about as an idea in 2009.

CAREER

2016-2017: Formation and secrecy

Whilst on the road with Panic! At the Disco, Weekes began writing and recording songs for a solo project and Seaman played drums on the songs, which eventually were compiled to become their debut EP 1981 Extended Play, with Weekes suggesting that the two form an official duo.

The duo debuted at Emo Nite Los Angeles' 2-year anniversary event on December 6, 2016 and continued playing secret shows in small venues through mid-2017. Initially, the Weekes and Seaman denied the whole project for months, despite confirmation of the band same from multiple different sources and videos and photos surfacing from the shows. This was because neither performer felt comfortable relying on their well-known names and bands to gain favor for this new project.

In May 2017, Seaman left Falling in Reverse and Weekes left Panic! At the Disco that December.

2017-2020: Touring and 1981 Extended Play

The duo’s debut single, "Modern Day Cain", was released on August 18, 2017, reaching number 8 of the Top 10 Alternative Music Charts on iTunes. Their second single, "Choke", was released on October 26 and reached number 7 on the same iTunes chart. They toured the US sporadically throughout the second have of 2017, also opening for Dashboard Confessional and The Aquabats.

On March 14, they released the single "Nobody Likes The Opening Band" for free download on their website with an accompanying music video. In August, they re-released "Choke" via Fearless Records as a double A-side single alongside a new song titled "Do It All The Time". Two months later, they announced their debut EP 1981 Extended Play and later that month released the single "Bleed Magic". 1981 Extended Play was released on November 9, 2018 and it topped the US Billboard Heatseekers chart.

The duo announced the 17-date Night Heat US tour in March 2019, which would take place from April 28 to May 18. On April 26, 2019, the duo released the single "Choke (Acoustic)", featuring a cabaret style version of their hit single. That November, they released three-song Christmas EP (with accompanying music videos) titled Christmas Drag.

2020-present: Razzmatazz

On August 5, 2020, the duo announced the upcoming release of their debut album, Razzmatazz, and also released a lyric video for the single "Leave Me Alone". The following month, the album’s title track, "Razzmatazz", was released. At the beginning of October, the band released another single - "New Invention" – and on October 23, Razzmatazz was released. It hit the Top 30 of six Billboard charts (including reaching number 2 on the Heatseekers Albums chart) and it charted on both the Billboard 200 and the UK Albums chart.

They spent the first few months of 2021 making television appearances and on February 23, they released a cover of the Beck song "Debra" as a single. On June 11, 2021, the band released a new single called "Mx. Sinister".
