Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, actor and comedian Nate Bargatze has followed in the family trade – his father, Stephen Bargatze, is an internationally acclaimed comedian and motivational speaker. After graduating from Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, Tennessee, Bargatze began his comedy career by frequently performing at The Boston in New York City.
Bargatze’s breakthrough came in 2014 when he was featured as part of Jimmy Fallon’s Clean Cut Comedy Tour. That year, he also won New York's Comedy Festival and the Boston Comedy Festival. 2013 also saw him working as a writer for the Spike TV Video Game Awards and performing multiple times for Coalition forces in Iraq and Kuwait. Marc Maron mentioned Bargatze as a “comedian who should be big” in an article for Rolling Stone and he was also mentioned in Esquire by Jim Gaffigan as one of the top up-and-coming comics.
In 2014, Bargatze released his debut comedy album, Yelled at by a Clown. The album charted on the Billboard Top Ten Comedy Charts for two weeks and peaked at number two. His second comedy album, Full Time Magic, was released in May 2015 with his accompanying Comedy Central Special.
In 2017, Netflix featured Bargatze on their half-hour comedy special The Standups. Two years later, he returned with his first full-hour Netflix comedy special The Tennessee Kid. The Greatest Average American, his second full-length Netflix special, was released on March 18, 2021.
In addition to his stand-up, he hosts the Nateland podcast and is a frequent guest on the Aaronland podcast.
